Description :
1) Model : MK3225-6.0 or MK3225-6.4 (Mpingo Knob Φ32 x 25H, mm)
2) Size(mm) : outer Φ32 x 25 height, shaft Φ6.0 or Φ6.4 x 20 depth,
socket set screw 3/16" x 9.5mm length, nut groove Φ18 x 6 depth
Size(inch) : outer Φ1.26 x 1 height, shaft Φ0.24 or Φ0.25 x 0.78 depth,
socket set screw 3/16" x 0.37" length, nut groove Φ0.71 x 0.23 depth
3) Shaft groove : fit to 6mm (0.24") or 6.4mm (0.25") diameter shaft.
4) Fix to shaft : Tapped on Mpingo body itself and put the socket set screw in,
and then fix with body.
Tapping on wooden body is one of the biggest advantage of Mpingo wood.
5) Finishing : 2~3 kinds of premium German natural oil applied on fine-sanded surface.
6) Packing : Mpingo knob 1ea, Socket set screw 1ea and its allen wrench 1ea included.
7) Handmade by trained woodturning skills in Korea.
8) Material quality : processed with sound squares selected very strictly from 5~7 years
air-dried blocks in Korea after import from East Africa.
9) There are somewhat distribution of wood grain & color due to natural material.
Note :
1) This item limits to Socket set screw fixed type knob and use is possible.
2) Especially, your knob internal sizes have to fit with Mpingo knob.
Please check carefully related sizes of your knob and compare to Mpingo knob before order.
3) Separating of original knob and fixing Mpingo knob should be work by yourself.
4) Avoid direct sunlight or warm atmospheres as possible.

-. Mpingo : Swahili name of African Blackwood ( Swahili : East African local language)
Botanical name : Dalbergia melanoxylon
Density(air-dry) : 1.3
-. African blackwood listed by CITES as a protected wood since Jan. 2017.
(CITES : Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora)
But, all our raw materials of this wood species were imported in Korea legally from Tanzania on 2002~2004.

-. Mpingo is much different species from Ebony wood.
Ebony : Botanical name : Diospyros spp. (Ebenaseae), about 200 kinds of species.
Density(air-dry) : 0.9~1.0
-. Mpingo is renowned for its lots of defects like cracks, splits, knots, worm holes, etc.
in the log itself, and so result in very poor cutting yield ratio to certain size.

The Mpingo wooden knob
"When I made the amp. a few times, I tried to use acrylic knobs with large quantity instead of
metallic knob of aluminum, brass, stainless etc. It was a more relaxed sound than metallic knob.
The fact that there are sound improvement effect of wooden knob is now widely known.
I tried to test with Mpingo knob a few days ago, then the result was amazing.
It was feeling of an upmarket amplifier a few steps upgraded.
When put it in small output (2watt to 10watt) amplifier, the sound was running smooth as if prickly
fluff did shaved and became much less noise despite of turning up the volume.
In the jazz, when clarinet are blows roughly, it often sounds close to brass.
But, this Mpingo knob gives as the tone of the woodwinds.
It can feel more obvious improvement effects than that replaced with expensive Amp. terminals or
replaced vacuum tube to high price classic tube.
This is the reason inferred from my way.
It can be feel the subtle vibrations when grasp lightly the roots/shaft of volume and selector.
This vibrations goes through selector knob to volume knob and does amplified.
Amp. chassis can make noise, but the knob is more direct than chassis.
In short, if the volume and selector is speaker driver, the knob is the enclosure to amplify vibrations.
Let’s list the sound quality in turn of knob material ;
Brass -> Stainless steel -> Aluminum -> Acrylic -> Bakelite -> Bubinga(wood) -> Rosewood(wood) ->
Mpingo(wood).
The worst is Brass, and the best is Mpingo.
In short, the replacement with Mpingo wooden knob is most simple and cheaper way for sound
improvements.
It is more effective to replace volume and selector together.
Also, it is better to keep out of contact with front panel when put the knob to the shaft."
